Description

Conservation Nation Academy provides twelve incredibly rich 40-minute lessons to help middle schoolers and their teachers become immersed and more aware of the opportunities available in the conservation field. The classes are experiential, mutli-modal and introduce students to diverse role models who are conservation professionals. Students and instructors will leave the 12 lessons understanding what it takes be a conservationist in general, and what the various roles and pathways are to really exciting jobs in the field. Research shows that very few low-income and minority students have gained a foothold in this sector, largely because of lack of access to outdoor environments, as well as lack of awarness about the roles available. If we don't increasingly draw on all of our student talent we will not bring the problem-solving capacity needed to take some of our most urgent challenges.

Conservation Nation

Conservation Nation is committed to engaging our most underserved middle school students in the world of conservation through a series of 12 multi-modal lessons that feature highly interactive instruction supported by very diverse conservation role models. By helping middle schoolers to become more knowledgeable and connected to their natural environment, we hope to expose them to opportunities and pathways within the conservation sector which will help to ensure a much greater and more innovative set of experiences and talents join the conservation movement in the near term.
