2025-26 Wind Energy Leadership, Education & Academic Development of New Orleans Program (WE LEAD NOLA)

This three-month program is focused on New Orleans high school educators to help them learn more about offshore wind and related career opportunities for their students. This program will accept twelve (12) WE LEAD Associates from Orleans Parish schools and will provide training and materials to help bring offshore wind energy to life in their classrooms. Applicants cannot be former WE LEAD NOLA associates.

WE LEAD Associates Receive

• Materials: Teachers will receive a class set of materials to support wind turbine design, building, and testing in addition to the materials used and consumed during the in-person workshop. We will also share additional digital resources for teachers to reference and incorporate into their classrooms.

• Stipends: Teachers will receive a total of $500 for their participation, to be paid in two installments: $150 after attending the December kick-off workshop and the remaining $350 after they bring at least one team to the spring KidWind Challenge event.

• Ongoing Teacher Support: KidWind will offer 3 virtual webinars in early 2026 for teachers to provide a space for tips, coaching, and troubleshooting as they implement the curriculum in their classrooms.

• Winning teams of the WE LEAD KidWind Challenge will be eligible for prizes and invitation to the 2026 KidWind World Challenge.

Program Requirements

• December 6th, 2025 - Attend an in-person KidWind training workshop.

• Spring 2026 - Organize and mentor at least 1 team of students to participate in the KidWind Offshore Wind Challenge.
