Description

Do you teach high school computer science in Louisiana? We invite you to participate in a new research study focused on the knowledge and skills students need in order to successfully learn to program with AI (that is, AI Pair Programming).

Teachers who participate in this study will help us design curriculum and professional learning materials to support AI pair programming, implement AI pair programming in their classrooms, participate in analyzing student data, and provide feedback to improve the materials.

Don’t worry – we don’t want to replace your regular curriculum. Instead, the AI pair programming activities will be implemented in a way that supports topics, tools, and assessments you are already using in your classroom. Benefits to participating teachers include:

  • Learn evidence-based practices for teaching programming with AI to your students.

  • Receive an annual stipend for participation.

  • Become familiar with the research process.

  • Contribute to ground-breaking research in CS education that will have a lasting impact.

  • Be part of a professional learning community of teachers and researchers shaping CS education.

Given our grant requirements, teachers in northeastern Louisiana will be prioritized. However, if there is additional space, Louisiana teachers outside ot this area will be considered.

If interested or to learn more, please email Dr. Julie M. Smith (Institute for Advancing Computing Education) at julie@csedresearch.org. To apply for this research opportunity, please complete the form at redcap.link/vywtnu2s
