Description
Intermediate/Advance Class
Teen slow fashion workshops offer hands-on training in sustainable garment creation, mending, and upcycling, enabling teenagers to develop sewing skills while promoting eco-conscious, personalized style over fast fashion. Programs often focus on transforming thrifted or old clothing into unique, wearable art, fostering creativity and environmental awareness. Key Aspects of Teen Slow Fashion Workshops: Upcycling and Re-design: Workshops teach techniques like denim collaging, painting, to repurpose old clothes. Skill Development: Sessions focus on basic to advanced sewing, garment construction, and repair, often geared toward ages 9–16+. Sustainability Focus: Programs, such as "Mend Don't Spend," educate youth on the environmental impact of fashion. Creative Expression: Projects often allow for self-expression, such as designing personalized pieces or creating runway looks. Examples: Programs include Master Art Studio’s Teen Sewing & Fashion Workshops, Slay the Runway, and local community-based workshops like those offered by ricRACK. These workshops provide a supportive environment for young, aspiring designers to explore sustainable fashion in a hands-on way.
This camp will be held from 9am-3pm.
ricRACK combines creative skill building with environmental responsibility by offering meaningful opportunities to youth and adults to re-use donated clothing, textiles, and craft materials. This mission builds on increased public and industry awareness of sustainability and waste reduction within the fashion industry.
