Description

2027 New Orleans Youth Harmony Festival

Saturday, February 20, 2027 | LSU New Orleans Performing Arts Center

NOLA Vox presents the 2nd Annual New Orleans Youth Harmony Festival, a FREE day of music education for students in grades 8–12. Led by internationally recognized clinician Justin P. Miller, students will experience hands-on vocal coaching, a cappella and barbershop harmony, and collaborative ensemble singing.

No auditions, no fees, and all experience levels welcome! Individual students and school groups are encouraged to participate. Music and learning tracks will be provided in advance.

The festival concludes with a 6:30 PM concert featuring the student festival ensemble, NOLA Vox, clinician quartets, and other local a cappella artists. Families, friends, and the community are invited to attend!

The festival is proudly supported by a Community Partnership Grant from the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation, helping make this educational opportunity free and accessible to young singers.

Registration is now open!

About NOLA Vox

NOLA Vox is a community choral arts organization bringing vibrant, high-quality vocal harmony to the heart of New Orleans.

Founded in 2023, NOLA Vox was created around a simple mission: Enriching lives through vocal harmony in New Orleans. We believe singing has the power to bring people together, create meaningful connections, celebrate our culture, and strengthen the communities we call home.

NOLA Vox is open to singers of all ages, backgrounds, identities, and levels of experience who share a love of music and community. Our ensemble brings together singers from throughout the Greater New Orleans area to learn, perform, collaborate, and grow together.

A New Orleans Sound

Our repertoire spans musical genres and generations, from traditional vocal harmony and contemporary a cappella to jazz, pop, gospel, standards, and American popular music. At the center of our artistic identity is a commitment to celebrating the music, artists, traditions, and stories that make New Orleans one of the world's great musical cities.

Rather than being defined by a single musical style, NOLA Vox explores how the sound of voices singing together can connect the traditions of the past with the music of today.

More Than a Chorus

NOLA Vox is committed to being an active part of the New Orleans arts and cultural community. In addition to our own performances, we collaborate with musicians, educators, community organizations, and other performing arts groups to create opportunities for singers and audiences throughout the region.

Our members have performed at community events, arts celebrations, regional gatherings, and collaborative performances alongside local and nationally recognized musicians and educators.

We also believe strongly in creating opportunities for the next generation of singers. Through educational partnerships, workshops, youth programming, and our growing New Orleans Youth Harmony Festival, NOLA Vox works to introduce young people to the joy of singing together while supporting music educators throughout our community.

A Place for Singers

At NOLA Vox, community is every bit as important as performance.

We strive to create an environment where singers can develop musically, build friendships, challenge themselves, and experience the unique connection that comes from making music together. Some members come with decades of ensemble experience, while others are discovering organized vocal harmony for the first time.

There is a place for both.

Throughout the year, singers may participate in our full ensemble as well as additional performance opportunities, smaller ensembles, educational events, community outreach, and special projects.

Part of a Larger Harmony Community

NOLA Vox is an official chapter of the Barbershop Harmony Society, an international organization dedicated to bringing people together through singing and vocal harmony.

Our affiliation connects NOLA Vox and its members with educational resources, coaching, performance opportunities, festivals, conventions, and a worldwide community of singers while allowing us to build an organization that reflects the distinctive musical culture and community of New Orleans.

Building the Future of Vocal Harmony in New Orleans

As NOLA Vox continues to grow, our vision extends beyond the rehearsal room and concert stage.

We want to create more opportunities for people throughout New Orleans to sing, experience live vocal music, collaborate across artistic communities, and discover the power of harmony. That means developing partnerships with educators and schools, supporting youth music programs, collaborating with local artists and organizations, expanding community performances, and creating accessible pathways for new singers to participate.

Whether someone joins us as a singer, attends a performance, volunteers, partners with us, or supports our mission, we want NOLA Vox to be a place where people can experience something uniquely New Orleans: great music, meaningful community, and voices coming together in harmony.
